Wire Shelving or Solid Shelves for a Nursery ?

Would you recommend metal shelving or wire shelving for a nursery? We sell bulbs and seeds of many different sizes so I would be concerned about them falling through the spacing on the wire shelving. We currently have metal shelving and it works well, but there is a lot of dust and dirt accumulation. Is there another solution available?
